Uh-Oh 10

My SOSO is reading the “This Old House” website.

This cannot be good.

That’s a show and a site I have always successfully avoided until today. I’ve done enough Harry Homeowner stuff to know that it never goes the way the “experts” say it will.

Once you start ripping stuff apart, you always find surprises. Only once have I met a 15-minute plumbing job that actually took 15 minutes (and that was because I was following behind my own work, as opposed to the Previous Owner’s).

All the other 15-minute plumbing jobs in this house have taken at least three hours and four trips to the hardware store.

Personally, I think the whole thing is a crock(pot).

Somewhere, I heard that Rachel Ray was being suedby someone who said that her 30 minute meals could not be reasonably done in 30 minutes. It’s one of those stories you hope is an urban legend, but have no confidence that it is.

Rachel Ray is eye candy. Craig Claiborne was a chef.

It’s possible to do some of them, IF you are familiar with them. If not, give up the 30 minute time frame. I can get a complicated coffeecake ready in less time than the recipe says, only because I know it.

    GO LINDA!!!!

Make sure Linda watches a few episodes of Holmes on Homes. You won’t have to worry about her going out and hiring a contractor…

OK Frank, I get Rachel and you can have Craig. No complaints here.

Bill, do not give him any reason to say no to my projects. I don’t know what Holmes on Homes is, but I will look it up. You know we need a lot of work done here. Can Alice come up and do it for us??? I’m really trying here guys; give me some support. We had a estimate for painting the interior of our house and it was so very over the top Frank, who has said he will never paint again, said WE could do it in a weekend. Bill and Alice how about a painting party?

Frank, why do you think I don’t have a hot water dispenser on my sink yet? Time & the urge to go play. Chris, & Joe, being plumbers helps not at all. They both said it’ll take at least an hour to get in, & that’s with the sink being drilled out.

    Linda,

Painting is no big deal. Get Frank off his lazy butt and stick a paint brush in his hand.

I have a bathroom that’s been torn up for several months. Try to remodel a bathroom that is neither square nor level, now that’s a challenge. It’s been one thing after another… But the next one will be easier.

Thanks Bill. I think the reality of paying for someone to paint hit Frank where it hurts the most, his wallet. I don’t even want to think about remodeling anything. That might drive him over the edge.
I hope you guys are feeling better
