He’s fighting a tsunami that will engulf him. People in developing countries have an understandably difficult time comprehending why certain jobs they can do should be exclusively “American” jobs. In the long run it doesn’t really matter whether US companies “ship” the jobs overseas; if they don’t, those countries will start their own companies anyway, and after all the stuff we’ve sold them over the years they will laugh out loud if you suggest they have no business selling their products here.
I suppose you could adopt a jingoistic economy where we keep all the jobs here and refuse to allow imports in, but I think you’d find that life would be a lot different, and not for the better.
