Remember way back when, oh, maybe three or four months ago, the punditocracy was all over Mitt flipping back towards the center?

Well, as The Richmonder points out, it ain’t happening, folks.

You know Ryan’s such a ludicrous pick from my perspective, far worse than Sarah Palin, it’s so funny I almost don’t care who wins the election, things have gotten so out of hand. Palin became the equivalent of a rock star, something Paul Ryan can never be. You look at pictures of him and laugh. When he tells people he could have been a professional skier, you laugh. When you’re told he’s a gym rat, it’s to laugh. When people try to pass him off as a scholar, more laughter. Just an extreme libertarian nerd, an unusual one in that he’s no scientist or engineer or computer brain, no va-va-voom, not gonna embarrass himself as a total ignoramus in front of a Katie Couric or some other and thereby will not  benefit from any media backlash sympathy. When it’s all over no one will be hiring him as host for a documentary on Wisconsin or any reality show on hunting down wildlife and he won’t get the same multi-million dollar book contracts. Oh, he’ll get some but it won’t be nearly like the legend of Palin of the north. There won’t be any HBO movie about him four or five years from now.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
