This website does not track you.
It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.
Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.
I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.
Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.

Test comment.
Since I can comment as user, you can follow my troubleshooting here. Before I do anything on my hosting provider, I plan to pinpoint the cause of the problem.
I am going to start by loading up this database locally on my server, doing the same with my most recent working backup, and determining whether the problem is in the database.

I have updated WordPress on my local server to the current WP version. It is running with the default theme and a database from December (the database that happened to be lying about in MySQL). The next step will be load the database I backed up today and see if the system breaks.
In a quick look at the files on my hosting provider, nothing lept out at me. I have approximately 3500 files related to the blog; I did not go through them all.

I’m sort of logged in. When I go to log in to the site on my local computer, after I log in, it redirects to my hosting service and the login cookie gives me access. The redirection occurs because of two lines in the database tables which I have not yet updated.
This leads me to think that the cause of the problem is not in the database itself.

I’ve set the redirects so that the site is completely functional on my local computer, so I can start testing other elements. I’m not going to beat myself to a pulp trying to figure this out–after all, my strong sense of outrage notwithstanding, it’s still a hobby.
