Nothing To Do, Nowhere To Go 0

Lowest since just after President George the Worst started his war on workers.

The Labor Department said Thursday that weekly applications for unemployment aid fell 23,000 to a seasonally adjusted 264,000, the lowest level since April 2000.

(snip)

The four-week average of applications, a less volatile measure, dropped 4,250 to 283,500, the lowest level since June 2000.

Why do some campaign types think that I would be interested in emails “From: [somebody]’s iPhone”?

It’s not cute. It’s not clever. It’s not even mildly amusing.

It’s stupid and silly.

The hunt for politeness.

He is accused of firing a shot from a 12-gauge shotgun toward ducks while hunting on the west side of the Schroon River, across the river from Adirondack Adventure Resorts campground. He was off duty at the time.

A man who was outside a camper called police after he heard a shot fired, and was hit in the leg with a small projectile. Police believe the projectile was a pellet from duck shot, fired from about 400 feet away. It did not penetrate his skin or go through his pants, officials said. He suffered a bruise that did not require medical treatment.

He said he saw the campground, but he told hisself it was closed so he go shoot.

“Traditional Marriage” 0

John Aravosis considers the history that is obscured by “tradition.” A nugget:

. . . “traditionally” women were property; they pretty much belonged to their husband. And as property, they couldn’t inherit a dime. In the old days it was all about the kids. If you had a farm, or an empire, you needed a son to take over some day (to hell with the daughters). The wife was important as an incubator, and your daughters were relatively useless, unless you could sell one off and get a decent dowry in return.

So when you hear conservatives, like the National Review’s Mona Charen, talk about the traditional reason behind marriage — the children — she’s half speaking the truth. The traditional purpose of marriage was “male children.” Wives were tolerated as necessary, and little girls were mistakes.

Police Saturated the Area . . . 0

. . . but the thief slipped away like a greased pig.

The 36,000 pounds of shortening in a semitrailer stolen Sunday from St. Petersburg is still missing, police said early Wednesday.

Authorities found the semitrailer late Monday abandoned in Hialeah, police have said. It was bound for a Publix distribution center in Lakeland before it was stolen from Coastal Towing on 118th Ave. N, according to St. Petersburg police.

More polite parenting.

The warrants state that Anderson left a loaded .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol unsecured in a tackle box in the sunroom of the suspect’s home on Northview Court.

Anderson’s 3-year-old son was playing in the sunroom when he found the gun, then accidentally shot himself, police said.
