The Mug’s Bowl 2

Seriously? There’s a Bitcoin Bowl?

It’s sponsored by BitPay, a company that attempts to leach its income off bitcoin users. (I wonder whether the promoters accepted payment for the sponsorship in bitcoins?)

Don’t be fooled. Bitcoins are a mug’s game.

“An Armed Society Is a Polite Society” 0

Be polite on the highways.

According to police, Ryan David Balla, 39, of the 500 block of Major Street, rear-ended a vehicle, and then aimed a pistol at a man and a lady as they were approaching to exchange facts.

Balla then allegedly rear-ended the car once more intentionally and fled the scene.

Two witnesses followed Balla.

Just after quite a few miles, Balla allegedly got out of his automobile, pulled out his gun, began to aim it at the witnesses, a man and a woman, and walk toward them.

Post-Christmas Postulation 2

Rockers (as opposed to “rock-n-rollers”) should not try to do Christmas songs. Too much back-beat.

Misdirection Play, Thin Blue Line Dept. 0

Discussing Ismaaiyl Brinsley’s murder of two NYPD officers, Tony Norman exposes the empty cynicism of right-wing talking points. A nugget:

Mr. Lynch (New York Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association head Pat Lynch–ed.) insists that a man suspected of three shootings — two fatal — in one day was the extension of those who dared question the legitimacy of police training and tactics in lethal encounters with unarmed civilians.

Though it is a tenuous, nonsensical argument any kid taking high school philosophy could demolish, it is one that has emotional resonance for those who are uncomfortable with challenges to authority, even where it is most warranted.

Facebook Frolics 0

This could get interesting. Facebook, after all, is a business built on snooping.

Facebook Inc must face a class action lawsuit accusing it of violating its users’ privacy by scanning the content of messages they send to other users for advertising purposes, a U.S. judge has ruled.

(snip)

Facebook had argued that the alleged scanning of its users’ messages was covered by an exception under the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act for interceptions by service providers occurring in the ordinary course of business.

But Hamilton said Facebook had “not offered a sufficient explanation of how the challenged practice falls within the ordinary course of its business.”
