I find it bittersweet to contemplate all the news stories about schools that have reopened only to find themselves infected yet again
Science is real. Pretending it isn’t doesn’t make it less real.

Many years ago, when he was working in Vermont, my brother told me that his boss had stopped hunting.
Seems he–the boss–had been relaxing in a bar after a day in the field and overheard two visitors from another state talking about their day stalking deer. One of them said, “I didn’t see a thing all day,” The other replied, “Neither did I, but I got off a couple of sound shots.”
And that’s when boss hung up his gun.

In the alternative reality, which we’ll call the “MAGA universe”, COVID-19 is a hoax, a conspiracy, the “China Plague” or just another common cold. The hospitals aren’t overflowing, there are more than enough ICU beds and nurses and doctors to go around, and Americans aren’t going to let politicians tell us we can’t be with our families.
