The hunt for politeness continues.

Musical NotesGuns and stupid, guns and stupid.
They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you brother,
You can’t have one without the other.

Yet another child . . . .

Joye said the child’s father told investigators he was shooting a gun with his son outside when the weapon went off.

He was shooting a gun and it went off.

Words fail me.

Yet another “responsible gun owner” discharges his responsibility.

A gunshot rattled a Chuck E. Cheese in Gaston County on Sunday, police said.

(snip)

Officers said a father reached into his pocket and accidentally touched the trigger as he was leaving the business.

Yet another “responsible gun owner”–oh, heck, you know the rest.

One more time, “negligent” and “accidental” are not synonyms.

And, in more news of the polite . . . .

At the Colorado Sun, Mike Littwin notes that yet another oxymoronic “responsible gun owner” has put the moron in oxymoron.

Francis Wilkinson considers a contradiction.

The National Rifle Association and other vectors of gun culture insist on the primacy of “law-abiding” gun owners. But if lawful gun owners are their focus, why have they waged a decades-long battle against restricting gun sales to criminals and the mentally ill? It’s not an easy question to answer.

Follow the link for considerable consideration.

An oxymoronic “responsible gun owner” jumps to a conclusion–a wrong conclusion–and concludes an innocent person’s life.

We are a broken society.

One again, politeness becomes a family affair.

Police say a video shows the 9-year-old girl walking with her father toward the business when she gets shot in the leg.

“You can see her legs buckle. It appears that she’s in pain. It appears that something happens to her leg and we know that she was shot. So those cameras at McDonald’s did capture that,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

But new video obtained by police reportedly shows the father getting out of his car and putting the firearm in his pants when it suddenly discharged.

. . . and another “responsible gun owner” discharges his responsibility.

An investigation by Edison Detective Christian Paone and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Jose Rosario determined Robert Novak, 82, Patricia’s husband, was in a first-floor room attempting to clear one of his registered firearms when the weapon fired through the floor, into the basement and struck his wife, according to the prosecutor’s office.

We are a pathetic polity.

Self-politeness is the politest kind. A snippet:

A Mundelein-area teen who initially claimed to be the victim of a drive-by shooting actually shot himself in the leg by accident, authorities said Sunday.

According to the Lake County sheriff’s office, deputies were called to West Rose Avenue near Mundelein at approximately 2:50 p.m. Saturday for a report of a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The teen at first told deputies he was standing outside with two friends when a vehicle approached and someone inside the car shot at them.

Once again, a “responsible gun owner” allows his politeness to become child’s play.

And he was not the only “responsible gun owner” to allow a child to discharge his responsibility.

We are a society of stupid.

Yet another random act of politeness.

An 80-year-old woman is dead after being shot in the head in Jackson.

(snip)

According to the detective, there were multiple shooters. He says they were trying to shoot someone else who was supposed to be at the home, but wasn’t there.

We are a failed society.

More neighborly politeness:

A man has been charged with wanton endangerment after his firearm went off while he was cleaning it, sending a bullet through his neighbor’s wall, according to police.

On Saturday, March 30th, police responded to a shots fired call in the area of the Boothsville Apartments in Fairmont.

They spoke to a man who claimed that a bullet went through his wall and up into his ceiling, while he and his 11-year-old daughter were home.

Yet another “responsible gun owner” discharges his responsibility.

According to the Ipswich Police Department, officers were called to the True North Ale Brewing on Country Road at approximately 5:17 p.m. for a report of a gun being fired. When officers arrived, they found a man in the dining area of the brewery shot when a gun he was carrying accidentally went off.

Yet another news writer demonstrates his or her ignorance of the meanings of the words “accidentally” and “negligently.”
