What runs this site 3

This site is running on a IBM PC 300 (that’s a Pentium 300 machine that was rescued from the boneyard) under Slackware Linux 10.0 with the Apache webserver v. 2. The blogging software is WordPress with the Connections theme.

I’m running the Firestarter firewall and F-Prot anti-virus for Linux. I’m still looking for an HTML editor that I get along with to use on this box.

I been messing about with Linux for about six months and am just barely beyond complete newbie, but I find this machine, as old as it is, is faster than my Celeron 1 GHz box with Windows XP sp 2. I don’t think I’m much longer for the world of Windows, at least for my home computers.

Hey Frank,I’m having a lot of trouble with the size of the font you’re using, it appears so small as to be almost unreadable.I’m using med.size for win., and large setting for AOL, so I don’t think it’s me, although I may be wrong :o)The archived entries box is unreadable.I took a screen shot if you want to see it.

All I can say it it looks right in both Opera and Netscape on both my XP and Linux computers, but Bob had the same comment. I’ll take a look at the CSS tomorrow. And, sure, shoot me the screen shot.

Oh, yeah, there are no archived entries. Too new. Someday, I hope to have enough entries to archive (grin).

This website does not track you.

It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.

Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.

I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).

I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.
