Scare Tactics 3

On the answering machine:

Due to the recent rise in the crime rate in your area we are offering the latest” blah blah blah [DELETE] over-priced unnecessary electronic security system.

There has, natch, been no recent rise in the crime rate on my street. The score is still one in the 23 years I’ve lived here, and that was five years ago and we know who did it (couple of teens heisted my neighbor’s ATV).

Needless to say, the call came from my BFF, “Unknown Name/Tollfree Number.”

Watch it… that’s how we sold the Pinnacle upgrade I’m doing at Illinois State Retirement Systems right now.

    Pinnacle?  What means this "Pinnacle"?

    Methinks you mean "Pinochle."

After we bought the house, for about 6 months or so, we would get calls, or people coming to the door, trying to see security systems. On the phone I would ignore it. When they came to the door, my "security system" would answer it with me. I would make a crack about the "No Soliciting" sign that’s right by the doorbell, then ask if they really thought I needed one, as Loki was jumping up to see who was there & barking. I don’t need one. I have 2 live ones.
