When my father died, he became the go-to guy for taking care of Pine View Farm.
His word was all I needed.
If he recommended someone, the person he recommended could be trusted implicitly, as could he.
This website does not track you.
It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.
Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.
I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.
Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.

The country was once full of people like Jim Killmon. He was a hardworking, honest, “everyday” kind of man you could trust. We have very few people like him left. It is our loss.

He was a true “good old boy.” It took an hour of talking to conduct 15 minutes worth of business, and the conversation was fun.
Not sure about the “hardworking,” but when the talking ended and the working started, it was done right and exceeded spec.
I disagree that there are few persons left like that. I think that lives move so fast and have become so insular that we seldom get to know persons well enough to realize that they’re like that.
You don’t deal with the mechanic. You deal with some faceless service writer (except where I go, at least). You don’t deal with a plumber; you deal with a company and get whoever it sends out. You don’t go to a doctor; you go to a “practice.”
You don’t call Jim or Jane; you call a machine that won’t let you through to a person (Verizon is really bad about that). No computer tech, it’s “tech support,” and there’s a good chance that a reasonably experienced user already knows more than they do.

No service writer where we take ours. The owner does the work to check the problem, then tells me what it’s going to take to repair it. Including a correct estimate of the total cost. The motorcycles are done by a person who has opened his own shop.
Same thing with our doctor. He owns his practice. He has another dr. as well as a nurse practioner working for/with him. We see only him.
Minor tech support issues are handled with an email titled “Oh tech support…….”. Serious ones are handled by a guy who runs his own business.
If I don’t want to talk to someone, I do whatever needs to be done online. My coffee maker will be here tomorrow. Costco doesn’t take Visa (the store takes AmEx only) so it was ordered online, where I could use my Visa.
You have to look, but the ‘un-insulated’ can be found.
