Spill Here, Spill Now 2
Scientific Blogging, where I found this picture, has links for keeping up with the damage.
As Brendan points out, “gusher” would be a more accurate description than “spill” in this case.

In the latest migration to a new virtual private server, some of the links to images in the earliest posts to this blog were broken. If you encounter one of these broken links, please let me know. I have backups and can restore the images.
There’s only one person who agrees with me on everything, and, as I’m not running for office, that person is not on the ballot.

This website does not track you.
It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.
Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.
I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.
Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.

If I were in charge of things:
Nobody would be allowed to drill off any coast until they could prove, without a shadow of a doubt, they would be able to turn off the thing.
Drilling would only be temporary, you see. There would be sources other than fossil fuels. Like wind. Or sun. Or water. Not oil, coal, gas or nuclear. Any of those 4, when the accident happened, can kill the resident wildlife in the area, or destroy the ecology.

I agree with you about alternative sources.
I tend to agree about off shore drilling, though I am not completely against it.
I am, though, against brigandage.
What is particularly troubling is that oil companies have fought regulations requiring additional safety devices as “too expensive.” They have not acted as “responsible corporate citizens,” no more than have the banksters; they have acted as brigands, just like the banksters.
