Unfortunately, the Democrat did what many modern Dems often do, decline to show up, against a lame but determined opponent, for completely inexplicable reasons. He’s done this before in dealing with the GOP. One has to show up with the same ferocity and if you don’t, wandering fecklessness and holding back on opportunities doesn’t cut it. I mean, really, how can you lose an argument with Mitt Romney and the GOp on policy for public education? By not really contesting it, Obama made the Romney idea that all Americans should be able to pull out of public primary school education for private school or some laundry list of the best public schools in the land credence. My teeth almost fell out. And he kept letting Romney get away with “states rights” arguments. My teeth almost fell out a second time. And how he let Romney turn Obamacare into something different than Massachusetts care and that the Republicans don’t allow exclusion for pre-existing conditions is beyond me. I was watching, and my mind wandered when Obama was talking, because it seemed like he wasn’t in the room. Thirty seconds after it was over I got one his campaign million mails saying he was ready to win re-election. Howcum the guy I saw on the net seemed like he didn’t want to be president? Musta had a really bad day.

I lasted five minutes, then switched to an old episode of Surfside 6.

I haven’t watched a Presidential debate in years and decided that now was not the time to start.  They turned into kabuki long ago.

I gather that Romney was glib and assured.  So was Vanilla Ice.

But you are right about Democrats and not showing up, as we have discussed elsewhere.
