Still Rising Again after All These Years 0

Some folks at Ole Miss held a rally against the Stars and Bars.

They were countered by the Secesh:

As the rally began to come to a close, a small group of Confederate flag-waving whites — children as well as adults — marched onto the scene. Campus police came quickly to the scene as students from the rally began to shout at the group.

“Are you a racist?” one asked.

“Absolutely,” said one of the flag-bearers, whose sign also indicated that he was a member of the Killen, Alabama-based League of the South, a Southern secessionist organization.

Be polite when seeking personal enhancement.

A witness told KVUE’s news partner KBMT that a woman was in the waiting room of a medical office. When she reached into her purse to pull out some paperwork, a gun fell out of her purse causing it to discharge. The round went through a wall and hit another patient in the hip.

Politeness: a little drop will do ya’.

Witnesses say a 45-year-old woman was shot in the leg and her 8-year-old child was shot in head when a handgun fired unexpectedly after it was dropped. The child was transported to WellStar Paulding Hospital where she died Sunday. The child’s mother was taken to Floyd Hospital in Rome for surgery.

Running Commentary 0

The resident curmudgeon at my local rag went to the movies for the first time in a while. She found it not to be a pleasant experience. Oh, the movie was okay; the audience, though, didn’t get even one star. A snippet.

My showing of “The Martian,” for instance, came equipped with a narrator nearby who provided an almost nonstop play-by-play in a loud whisper. No extra charge.

I couldn’t make out everything said, but the steady, distracting drone sounded something like this:

“Matt Damon,” she muttered as the actor who played astronaut Mark Watney appeared on the screen.
