Even if persons get too close to you, show politeness.

Upon leaving the store, Michelle Dupree found that someone had parked too close to her truck, Renton police accounts say.

Dupree reportedly waited for the driver. When he emerged from the store and got into the driver’s seat of his car, she started yelling at him and initiated an argument, court documents say.

The man backed out of the parking lot and started to drive away, but the two continued to argue. The man reportedly yelled, “I’m a man” out of his car window, probable cause records say, prompting Dupree to reply, “Well, I’m a woman. That’s why I have an equalizer.”

Dupree allegedly retrieved a handgun from her truck, pointed it at the man and walked toward his car as he tried to leave the parking lot.

Yeah.

ODU President John Broderick said students could face disciplinary action after a photo of sexually suggestive banners welcoming freshmen women to Old Dominion University sparked a furor on social media Saturday.

The three signs at the house, which have been taken down, read: “ Rowdy and fun. Hope your baby girl is ready for a good time …”, “Freshman daughter drop off” with an arrow pointed to the front door and “Go ahead and drop off mom too …”

Right.

It’s true what Glenn Beck says: Donald Trump isn’t a conservative. But he’s a racist, which is close enough.

If One Standard Is Good, Two Must Be Better 3

I’ve mentioned before my opinion that persons who complain about “political correctness” are part of the “have cake, eat it too” crowd: They want to be permitted to be nasty without penalty.

Historiann sums it up quite nicely. A snippet:

Complainers about the “p.c. police” are hypocrites. They demand a conflict-free work environment for themselves, while criticizing students for being conflict-averse and “afraid” of ideas they dislike.

Everybody Must Get Fracked 0

Rodrigo Romo describes what it’s like to live with frackers. Here’s a bit:

There are 45 fracked wells within a mile and a half of my daughter’s junior high school. At Sequoia Elementary School, which she attended for years, there are three separate fracked wells within a half-mile of the school, and one that is just 1,200 feet from the school.

Many students at the school suffer from asthma and serious, debilitating illnesses. What is causing this spike in health problems in normally healthy children? Fracking. It exposes our children to unsafe levels of air toxins that can cause a broad variety of serious health complications, including asthma. Students at my daughter’s schools were often forced to stay inside for weeks at a time because of the noxious fumes from the fracking sites. They think it’s strange when people don’t get nosebleeds every day.

Another day in NRA Paradise . . . .

A report from the Milwaukee County medical examiner’s office says Phonisay’s cousin heard a gunshot around 11 p.m. Thursday but initially thought it was from a video game. She later heard her cousin calling for help.

The medical examiner says Phonisay apparently was posing with his gun and it discharged when he went to holster it. A round was fired into his right groin, striking his femoral artery.

It’s Twitter’s World, We Just Live in It 0

Bob Molinaro, sportswriter extraordinaire:

The NFL Network reported Tuesday that Eli Manning was seeking a new contract to make him the NFL’s highest-paid player. By Wednesday, Manning was saying the story was a fabrication. But, of course, Eli – who eschews social media – was missing the point. For at least a day, the apparently phony report served as grist for the talk shows and Twitteratti, which is all that really seems to matter anymore, especially in the dog days of August.

I got my driver’s license a long time ago.

Shortly thereafter, I was driving the family car in a snow storm on I-85 near Charlotte, North Carolina. As I recall, I was doing about 50, reasonable in a snow storm, when a pick-up truck careened by me on the left, then immediately shot to the exit ramp on the right, almost taking the hood ornament, except that 1961 Fords did not have hood ornaments.

That’s when I said, “All North Carolina drivers must think they are Richard Petty.”

Well, it’s just going to get worse.
