Meta: Database Weirdness 2

I have several posts scheduled to pop yesterday and they are not visible.

I’ve checked them both in the WordPress interface and in phpMyAdmin and can find nothing unusual. They all report as “Published,” all have visibility set to “Public,” and all display in “Preview” mode. Granted, not a one of them was profound, but I found them amusing. Just for good measure, I did a “Check,” “Repair Table,” and “Optimize Table” on the database. No change.

Now I’ve got a puzzle to solve.

I wonder whether this one will be visible?

(Moments Later) Yup.

WordPress, don’t get me started. WP, my host, “support” in Mumbai and mysql, matches made in hell.

I’ve been using WordPress for eleven years since v. 1.5. For the first five of those, I self-hosted on a computer in my guest room; I was my own hosting provider (in fact, being able to self-host is what led me both to Linux and to blogging with WordPress; I’m hardly a database admin, but I know more about MySQL/MariaDB than most casual users).

I’ve found WP a reliable and stable bit of software, but I am a Linux geek and I enjoy the nuts-and-bolts aspects of doing this stuff.

From what little you’ve said here and at your place, it sounds to me like your issues have much more to do with your hosting provider than with WP itself. I won’t mention my hosting provider (a whois will turn it up), but, the rare times when I must call tech support, I get a competent someone in my own country.

    Just my two cents.
