I must say, I think Bernie Sanders expressed it well.
To equate criticism of Israeli policies and actions is not ipso facto anti-Semitic, though pro-Israeli forces want it to be considered so. That is a strategy for enforcing silence, a “Get Out of Jail Free” card for bad behavior, an invisible plastic shield against accountability.
Such criticism is not necessarily “anti-Israel.” Heck, I have opposed and criticized many American policies. Having done so doesn’t make me anti-American. It makes me very much pro-American, as I want my country to do the right thing and I criticize to that end.
