The South Carolina State Fair closed early Saturday night and some patrons suffered bumps, scrapes and bruises amid panic caused by reports of gunfire.

“No shots were fired on the fairgrounds and, fortunately, no serious injuries occurred,” according to a statement from South Carolina State Fair general manager Nancy Smith.

Just another day in NRA paradise.

One of the most persistent cultural tics of the early 21st century is Americans’ reluctance to absorb, let alone prepare for, bad news.

Some persons are driven to be polite.

The NRA will no doubt argue that, had this two-year-old been packing, he could have prevented this.

Politeness takes practice (emphasis added).

The manager told WAAY 31 an older customer was using one of the ranges Friday morning when he accidentally shot himself in the hand. She said Bullet and Barrel has Range Safety Officers in the bays at all times in case of an emergency, and everyone must obey and sign the rules and regulations list.

On the list, it says to treat all guns as if they are loaded, always point guns in a safe direction and keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.

The cite from the aforementioned list is pretty basic gun safety stuff that I learned at my Daddy’s knee. It’s also hardly rocket science. Hell, it’s hardly Gilbert chemistry set science.

I reckon he failed to read and comprehend the list before he signed it. . . .

Musical NotesGuns and stupid, guns and stupid,
They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you, brother,
You can’t have one without the other.
