Introduce your children to politeness.

The girl’s father was showing someone his gun when he accidentally fired the weapon, police reports said. A bullet struck the (20 month old-ed.) girl, police reports say.

The girl was conscious and breathing when paramedics took her to an area hospital by ambulance. She was listed in serious but stable condition about an hour after the shooting took place, Cleveland police said.

We are reminded once more that politeness is child’s play.

A 10-year-old child was airlifted to a hospital after being accidentally shot, (Daytona Beach, Fla.–ed.) authorities confirmed.

(snip)

Officials said it appears the shooting was accidental but it’s unclear whether the child shot himself or was shot as children played with a gun.

The NRA will no doubt argue that, had the child been packing–oh, wait.

Test the politeness.

According to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which manages concealed carry permits for the region, staffers at the gun range inspect students’ firearms amid the course. During this portion of the class, a civilian instructor, who has not been identified, administered a “trigger pull test” and shot the student in his leg.

I reckon the trigger was working.

Show politeness to the children.

A bullet hole in a window at Allendale United Methodist Church is a stark reminder of a scary situation.

“Around 3:00 [Thursday], one of our teachers heard what she thought was a rock hit the window and saw broken glass,” Rev. Andy Oliver said.

That teacher quickly realized it wasn’t a rock, but a bullet that went into the preschool where 11 two-year-old kids were on hand.

Authorities have not determined whether the politeness was intentional of unintentional negligent.

Get a load of all the politeness.

A 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the torso by a 40-year-old man who was attempting to unload a handgun in a central Florida home.

One more time, “accidentally” is not a synonym for “negligently,” and “responsible gun owner” is an oxymoron.

What’s a gun show for other than showing off politeness?

It happened Sunday afternoon at the Greenville Convention Center. . . .

“A witness told officers that the teenager picked the firearm up and the weapon discharged as he was handling it,” said Donnie Porter, a spokesman for the police department.

The bullet struck a gun box and came to rest inside foam within the box.

Be polite to high school athletes.

The wife of an Arkansas jail administrator was arrested and charged with assault several days after police say she pulled a gun on four black teenagers who were going door to door to raise money for their high school football team.

Police in the eastern Arkansas city of Wynne, about 100 miles northeast of Little Rock, said the incident happened Aug. 7. Police responding to reports of “suspicious persons” found the four children on the ground, with Jerri Kelly, who is white, standing over them holding a gun, Memphis TV station WMC reported.

I remember that, when I was in high school in the still-Jim-Crow South, I and my teammates were dispatched on a similar fund raising effort, though I forget exactly what we were selling. No one pulled a gun on us, but we were not-black.
