The hunt for politeness is never-ending.

A 10-year-old has been shot in the foot in a duck shooting incident near New Plymouth, the third today, on the first day of the duck hunting season.

Earlier, a 55-year-old man was hit in the eye in the Tararua District, and a man in his 30s was shot in the wrist near Ashburton.

The cause of the incidents isn’t yet clear.

I beg to differ. The cause of the incidents is very clear. The details of each incident may not be clear, but the cause of all, regardless of the details, is negligence.

Play politely.

A probable cause report released Friday says a witness saw the 17-year-old “playing” with a gun and pointing it at the girl. The witness heard the girl “playfully” say she was not afraid of the boy shortly before the first shot was fired.

Deputies found the girl with a single gunshot wound. Medics declared her dead at the scene.

Had the girl been packing, no doubt this would not have happened.

A polite society is a clean society.

A man accidentally shot himself in the foot on Sunday afternoon in Murfreesboro. A woman who was in the home at the time of the accidental shooting told police that she was in the kitchen when the 37 year old victim shot himself while cleaning his Mossberg shotgun.

I had a Mossberg five-shot bolt-action .22 rifle when I was younger. I once used it to pick a crow out of a tree at 150 yards.

I grew up on a farm. Crows were the enemy. Live with it.

Somehow, I managed not to shoot myself with it, because I’m not too stupid to own a gun.

It’s showtime for politeness!

The 63 year old man left his loaded gun in the car when he went inside the (gun–ed.) show because loaded weapons are forbidden.

Sgt. Dean Carriger of the Sandy Police Department told us, “Following the gun shot he returned to his car and he retrieved his weapon and was re-holstering it prior to leaving. At which time he accidentally discharged the weapon, which is a 40 caliber pistol, shooting himself in the right thigh.”

Politeness is child’s play.

A 3 year-old boy is dead after accidentally shooting himself in the chest at his home in Paulding County Tuesday morning.

It happened around 7 a.m. at a home on Camp Circle in Dallas. Holston Cole was taken to Paulding-Wellstar hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives said the shooting was an accident but don’t know how the toddler got the gun.

It’s not going to stop, you know.

Exercise politeness on the public thoroughfare.

The mother, 26-year-old Patrice Price, was driving a car belonging to her security guard boyfriend on Interstate 41/U.S. 175 southbound and was shot around 10:30 a.m., the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“Initial witness accounts indicate that a child in the back seat of the vehicle got a hold of a gun and discharged the firearm, sending a single bullet into the drivers back,” the sheriff’s office said.

First responders arrived on the scene soon after the shooting and found her without a pulse and breathless. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

More guns would, no doubt, have prevented this.

Politeness starts young.

Friday afternoon, police responded to a shooting in Natchitoches, and found a three year old with a single gunshot wound to his head.

The child was taken to a hospital, but he eventually died from his injuries.

Police believe the child somehow got ahold of the firearm, and accidentally shot himself.

According to the story, a man is being held on charges of “negligent homicide.” To find out why this is a crime and not just another tragic accident, follow the link; the reason should be immediately apparent.

The Rights Balance 0

In NRA Paradise, the “rights” of ammosexuals to play with their ammosexual appendages trump all other rights, but there are worms–nay, wormwood–in the NRA apple. Bruce Greenspun writes eloquently at the Las Vegas Sun. A snippet.

Gay rights, women’s rights, rights of individuals to be free to pursue their dreams and the rights of all Americans to eat where they wish, stay where they wish and marry whom they choose are all important, and the evolution of those rights is indicative of an advancing civilization.

But none of those, I submit, is as precious as the right of a young child to be able to grow up free from the constant fear of being shot to death on the schoolyard, in the classroom, in a movie theater, in a church parking lot or anywhere else that has long been a violence-free zone in America. Until recently.

I am certain I am not the only grandfather or father who fears the phone call that says the school where a grandchild or child attends is on lockdown because some crazy person with an assault rifle or machine gun or whatever else he could get his hands on is shooting up the place.

Just read it.

Be polite in the workplace (emphasis added).

A Santa Rosa County employee discharged his 9 millimeter handgun in the Santa Rosa tax collector’s office.

The incident happened after business hours on April 21.

The shooting did damage some office equipment.

(snip list of office equipment)

He (Stan Nichols, a member of the office staff–ed.) said the employee has a concealed weapons permit, which under Florida law, allows the employee to bring a firearm into the building.

According to statements quoted in the report, this is Santa Rosa County’s idea of a “model employee.” Extrapolating this, it would seem that, in Florida, a “model employee” is one too stupid to control his ammosexual accessories.

Politeness must be inculcated from an early age.

A 2-year-old Indiana boy fatally shot himself Wednesday evening after discovering a gun in his mother’s purse, authorities said.

The boy retrieved the gun when his mother “momentarily stepped away,” leaving her purse on the kitchen counter, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release.

“Guns everywhere” is working out so very nicely, is it not?

Politeness takes practice.

An Alaska man was shot and killed Saturday while photographing acquaintances shooting guns at a gravel pit.

Adam Malaby apparently stepped into the line of fire about 8:30 p.m. while attempting to photograph or record video of someone else firing a .40-caliber pistol at a makeshift shooting range in Sutton, reported the Alaska Dispatch News.

If he had shot back, no doubt he would be alive today.

Politeness is cleaning up.

A man inside a nearby apartment says he was cleaning his gun when it went off, according to the assistant manager at the complex. The bullet went through a wall before eventually striking the girl.

The girl is expected to be OK, according to her mother, who did not want to be identified Sunday night. The bullet lost momentum after going through the wall, and didn’t pierce the girl’s leg.

Politeness is a family affair.

The mother’s boyfriend confessed overnight to shooting the little girl in the face inside a home on Mayfield Street near B Street just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a police source confirmed to NBC10. The boyfriend told police that he was handling his semiautomatic handgun and accidentally shot the girl. Police had initially believed that the little girl’s 5-year-old sibling had found the mother’s boyfriend’s gun and accidentally shot her.

Another day in NRA Paradise.

The bullet grazed the girl’s right armpit, Green said.

And, in more news of the polite . . . .
