Politeness rides again.

An Elliott County woman was injured following an accidental shooting in the 1200 block of Stamper Ridge, according to the Kentucky State Police.

KSP said a boy was dismounting from his horse and the .22 caliber pistol he was carrying fell from the holster and hit the ground. The gun discharged, injuring the boy’s mother Jereen Stamper, 39.

You may ask, “Why is a 12-year-old packing heat on a horse trail?” It’s the NRA dream: every city, Dodge City; every hill, Boot Hill.

Demonstrate courtesy on the public thoroughfares.

Police spokesman John Elder said the woman was southbound near Groveland Avenue at 5 p.m. when she was cut off by a beige four-door Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows.

She honked at the car, which then slowed down next to her driver side, and a passenger shot at her multiple times with a black handgun, Elder said.

Just another day in NRA paradise.

And, in more news of the polite, just how stupid do you have to be not to ensure that your gun is unloaded before you fondle it lustfully clean it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Friends treat friends politely.

Homicide detectives have identified the person who shot and killed a local businessman last week at a friend’s home in central Amarillo, but no arrests have been in the case, police said Monday.

(snip)

“It’s a tragedy, a freak accident,” Berry said. “It was a misfire of a gun that ricocheted, hit the floor and unfortunately hit Chad. It’s crushing for everybody who was there and even more crushing for the one who was holding the weapon.”

Where I come from, a “misfire” means the damn gun doesn’t go off.

Witnesses at the home say they were in the process of helping the family move, when a bed was broken down and a gun was found between the mattresses. The gun was placed on the floor and later picked up by a 3-year-old. The toddler discharged the weapon into the floor, the bullet ricocheted off of a window sill and struck Sorensen in the left foot. Sorensen has been treated at EIRMC for his injury.
