As the twig is bent shot . . . .

A 5-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed on Tuesday evening. It happened at 71st and Canton, near Trinity Christian High School.

“Unfortunately, a child did die after being transported to Covenant Women’s and Children’s, from a gunshot wound,” Sgt. Jason Lewis with the Lubbock Police Department, says. “It appears to be accidental.”

No doubt, had the boy had a gun, this would not have happened. Isn’t that how things work in NRA Paradise?

Afterthought:

Cleanliness is next to politeness.

Two Hancock County residents in as many weeks have landed in local hospitals with injuries after guns they were cleaning accidentally fired.

(snip)

About a week earlier, a Spring Lake resident was talking with a younger relative about firearms when his gun went off. He thought the gun’s chamber had been emptied when he picked it up to clean it and the device accidentally fired, police said.

And more guns that fire themselves . . . .

The stupid. It burns.

Now, about those intelligence tests for buying guns . . . .

Once again, a polite society is a clean society.

Louisiana State Police reported Emily Thibodeaux, 23, of Addis, was shot when her husband, Ivy Thibodeaux, 29, an Addis police officer, was cleaning his gun and accidentally fired. Thibodeaux had just started her career as a third grade teacher at the Holy Family School in Port Allen.

How stupid do you have to be to clean a gun without checking that it’s loaded?

Pretty damn stupid, and there’s a lot of that going around.

Be polite at the parking lot.

A witness said the man shot himself in the leg while trying to hide his handgun.

This guns everywhere thing is working out so very nicely, is it not?

Open Carryings-On 0

Daniel Ruth has qualms about Florida’s rush to become an armed encampment. Among other worries, he suspects that a bunch of pistol-packing yahoos roaming the 7-11s of the Gunshine State might have a deleterious effect on Florida’s tourism industry.

He suggests an alternative for those wishing to indulge their ammosexual urges:

In reaction to Tallahassee’s tireless efforts to turn the state into an armed camp rivaling the baptism scene in The Godfather, I would offer an alternative piece of legislation. Instead of allowing people with concealed weapons permits to openly prance about with their little friends in full view, I would offer a far better idea.
