Politeness is the cat’s meow.

Barry Fish, Max’s owner, told Fox25 the cat came home injured and in pain last week after roaming outside. When he took his pet to the veterinarian, he discovered the cat had been shot.

“We saw an X-ray with a picture of a bone, and it’s all shattered by something small, like a .22 or a pellet,” Fish told Fox25.

Be polite when paying.

The man was headed toward the register when his gun fell and fired a single round into another man’s calf, said spokeswoman Kristen Bentsen in an email. The man was carrying the gun legally, she noted.

“Open carry” is working out so very nicely, is it not?

Afterthought:

I ate at a Cracker Barrel once. It was the day that the space shuttle Challenger fell out of the sky.

I didn’t need another reason to avoid them.

Like Petri wine, politeness is handed down from father to son.

Acworth police said the father had just picked up his two young children from daycare while their mother was at work.

“Right now, all we know is that the child was left unattended and got a hold of the handgun,” said Acworth police officer Youlanda Leverette.

When officers arrived, they found the boy in his parents’ bedroom. His father told officers the gun had been in a holster on the bed when the boy apparently found it and pulled the trigger.

One is tempted to wonder just how the hell many guns were on the table.

Politeness is cleaning up.

The man told the deputies he was cleaning his 9mm handgun and wasn’t aware a round was in the chamber and it discharged.

And yet another gun fires itself just because it can.

Descent into Fear 0

Dan Casey stifles his qualms and explores some “gun-free zones.” Here’s a bit:

Mind you, a number of those executive branch offices are here in the Roanoke Valley. Last week, I visited a bunch for a pulse check on the level of fear. Were visitors extra jittery? Were employees quaking in their boots now that their workplaces were dangerous “gun-free-zones?”

I started at the DMV in northern Roanoke County and found Tanya Howell of Roanoke standing calmly outside.

“I think [the gun ban] is a good idea,” she said. “I feel safer knowing someone’s not going to walk in and shoot up the building. I’m just glad somebody’s doing something about it.” Score one for McAuliffe.
