Yet more politeness on the pavement.

When I was learning how to handle a gun, it was drilled into me to always assume a gun is loaded unless I verified for myself that it was not.

I guess this guy missed that part of the lesson.

Yet another random act of politeness:

A 3-year-old riding his tricycle, having fun with members of his family on a hot summer night, his 7-year-old big sister right by his side, and out of nowhere gunfire erupts. And the children are struck by gunfire,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said.

And, in more news of “responsible gun owners” . . . .

Ask yourself, what’s the common denominator here?

And another “responsible gun owner” confirms that phrase to be an oxymoron:

Upon entering the home, officers discovered an adult male sitting on the couch holding his three-year-old son in his lap. The child sustained an apparent gun shot wound to his left hand.

The initial investigation revealed that the child accidentally shot himself with a handgun that belonged to his father. The handgun, for which the owner has a permit, was recovered at scene.

The child may indeed have “accidentally” shot himself, being too young to understand the consequences of his actions, but, without question, the parent with gross negligence allowed the child to access the portable phallus.

We are a broken society.

Yet more random acts of politeness.

For Pete’s sake, a BB gun is still a gun and should be treated as such. Indeed, its ammunition is for all practical purposes little musket balls.

We are a society of stupid.

Self-politeness is the politest kind.

A person reportedly shot himself accidentally at a popular ice cream shop in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County Saturday evening.

That’s according to a worker at King Kone off MacArthur Road.

The worker tells 69 News a gun accidentally went off while holstered. The man carrying the gun was hit in the leg, according to the worker.

Get out of Jail free cardNeighborly politeness.

Too many guns. Too much stupid.

And too many persons who don’t know the difference between “accident” and “negligence” when guns are involved.

Once again, “responsible gun owners” expose a child to politeness . . . .

When deputies arrived, they found a 2-year-old boy suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Center Point Fire and Rescue transported the boy to Children’s of Alabama for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

JCSO (Jefferson County, Alabama, Sheriff’s Office–ed.) says the preliminary investigation revealed the child was in a vehicle with his mother and a man when the boy discovered a gun while in the vehicle and accidently (sic) shot himself.

. . . and, once again, the difference between “accidentally” and “negligently” is somehow overlooked.

Here’s the gist. More at the link.

This past weekend, Travis County (Texas–ed.) Assistant District Attorney Joseph Francis Frederick III was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at his roommate following an argument that reportedly started because the lawyer was having difficulties streaming pornography on a TV.

Another incident of courtesy on the concrete.

Afterthought:

I was chatting with a neighbor a couple of days ago and she mentioned that, when she goes to watch her niece play lacrosse for her school, she has to go through a metal detector to get to the stands.

We are a broken society that has sacrificed civility at the feet of the idol of the portable phallus.
