Once again, politeness becomes child’s play.

We are a society of stupid.

And we all know that cleanliness is next to politeness . . . .

A man in Logan County died after accidentally shooting himself in the chest Friday afternoon according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said that the man was cleaning a gun when he accidentally fired the shot.

Back in the olden days, when I was a young ‘un, we were taught to make a gun was unloaded before cleaning it, or, for that matter, doing anything–transporting it, storing it, whatever–with it except firing it.

More guns and stupid.

Officials say last Sunday a 62-year-old hunter in Adams County shot at what he thought was a deer. As it turned out, the animal was actually a dog. And the 47-year-old woman walking that dog was hit in the abdomen.

Self-politeness is the politest kind.

According to Chief Mark Harcrow, at 3:23 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 the officers responded to the report of an accidental shooting at the Pint and Barrel restaurant. Harcrow said at the restaurant, officers found a 25-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound to the left thigh. They applied a tourniquet to the subject’s leg to control bleeding.

Harcrow said the man was sitting outside of the building while carrying a handgun in his pocket when he accidentally discharged the handgun and was struck in the leg.

They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you, brother,

Another oxymoronic “responsible gun owner.” Another purse. Another gun.

Officers were dispatched to a local hospital Friday night about a 2-year-old gunshot victim. The child’s mother told officers there that her 3-year-old son found the gun in her purse after she left a bedroom, and he accidentally shot his younger sibling, who later died from his injury.

As Victoria Hugo-Vidal pointed out (see the second post below), this is us.

A broken society.

A Question of Identity 0

The Portland Press-Herald’s Victoria Hugo-Vidal reacts to the recent mass shooting in Maine. She writes powerfully of America’s unwillingness to act against the merchants of death. A snippet; follow the link for context.

Shortly after the massacres, Sen. Angus King said of Maine, “this is not who we are.” But it is.

The fact that this killing happened proves that this is who we are.

And another “responsible gun owner” discharges his responsibility . . . .

When police arrived, they found a four-year-old with a head injury being carried into an ambulance.

Authorities were able to find out that the grandfather had taken out his gun to practice at a shooting range earlier in the day. When he got home, he was cleaning the gun and a bullet had accidentally fired grazing the victim’s head.

Authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a gunshot inside the Walmart in Waverly around 11:12 a.m. When they got there, a woman reported to police that her 2-year-old son had gotten ahold of her Taurus 9mm firearm and accidentally discharged it, according to the Waverly Police Department.

One more time, “responsible gun owner” is an oxymoron.
