Another “responsible gun owner” shoots first, gets questioned later.
Detectives spoke to David V. Doyle, the owner of the property. The 58-year-old told authorities that he saw shadows outside his home, went inside and got his firearm.
Detectives say Doyle told them that when he went back outside he saw people running away from his property and began shooting at them, unknowingly (!!!!–ed.) hitting the girl.
We are a society of stupid.

Once again, a “responsible gun owner” proves that said phrase is an oxymoron.
In a post related to this topic, Grung_e_Gene argues most cynically that Republicans have no interest in stemming the flow of blood. One dares to hope that he is, as my old boss used say, in error.
Aside:
Recently, on an episode of the Bob Cesca Show–I can’t remember just which one–Buzz Burbank said that skepticism is good and cynicism, well, not so much. I’m not sure I buy all of Gene’s reasoning, but, sometimes, cynicism does seem to be called for.

And again:
Jeffery McClintic, 31 of Indianapolis, and Scott Poynter, 34, of Danville received non-life threatening injuries when the man shot in their direction, officers said.
This may come as a surprise to oxymoronic “responsible gun owners,” but turkeys and humans do not look alike.

The hunt for politeness continues.
The victim, a 54-year-old man from Arden Hills, was hurt but expected to survive.
One wonders, was it the tail feathers or the gobble-gobble?
Guns and stupid, guns and stupid.
They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you brother,
You can’t have one without the other.

Be polite when you are required to avail yourself of the pavilion of necessity go potty.
Guns and stupid, guns and stupid.

Yet another oxymoronic “responsible gun owner” fails to ensure that his weapon is empty before “cleaning” it.
Aside:
I have become convinced that, in gun nut world, “clean” is code for “fondle.”

Show politeness to our animal friends.
“Somebody pulled up on the side of the road and shot him,” he said. “I’d love to ask them ‘What in the world were they thinking?’ and then let them go to jail for it.”

You may recall that Newport News, just on the other side of James River from where I sit, is where a first-grader shot his teacher. Now Newport News wants the teacher’s law suit to be dismissed. Here’s a bit from the article at Law and Crime:
On Wednesday, the school board asked that the lawsuit be dismissed.
The motion from the school district, which notes that Zwerner has so far refused to accept payment under Virginia’s Workers’ Compensation Act, argues that the Newport News Circuit Court doesn’t have jurisdiction over the case because being shot by a first-grader is, essentially, a risk that all teachers take.
It’s been a long time since I was a first-grader, but I’m pretty sure that none of my classmates came to school packing heat. Heck, for that matter, I can say that about my 12th-grade classmates. And my college and grad school classmates. And my co-workers in every job I ever had.
We are a broken society.
