A pile-up of politeness populates our parkways . . .

. . . as we politely progress the pathway to a pathetic polity.

While on the topic, the writer of a letter to the editor of the Las Vegas Sun has a question.

Once more, politeness becomes child’s play.

And, in more news of the polite . . . .

The Mystery Ingredient 0

First Man: There's been another regrettable mass fatality that happened to involve fireamrs. Second Man: Thought and prayers. I don't know why politicians refust to enact common sense reforms to prevent such tragedies. First Man: Right. Like turning every school, shopping mall, and nightclub into a secure fortress patrolled by heavily armed security guards. Second Man: And mandating battlefield trauma care training for third graders. First Man: ALso, we need to ban TikTok and critical race theory, and drag queen story hours, and a bunch of other things I don't like. Second Man: It's not wonder these regrettable incidents continue to occur, when our culture is awash in so much depravity. Sparky joins in: Wow, those are certain words that you are speaking. But I an't help but wonder if there's a common denominator in all these *gun massacres* that you might be overlooking. You know, somethg consistently present during every *gun massacre*, regardless of how secure the site of the *gun massacre* may have been or any other variable that might exist from one *gun masscre* to the next. First Man: Nope, sorry, can't think of anything like that. Second Man: Yeah, I'm coming up blank. Sparky: Ah, well, just a thought.

Yet another “responsible gun owner” performs yet another random act of politeness.

Musical NotesGuns and stupid, guns and stupid.
They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you brother,
You can’t have one without the other.

Yet another oxymoronic “responsible gun owner” exposes yet another child to politeness.

The sheriff’s office says their investigation so far has revealed the child, who was at his grandparents house, reportedly went into a bedroom where he located a gun and fired it, striking himself.

Yet another gun nut (thinks he is) taking the law into his own hands.

Yet another innocent sacrificed.

We are no longer a society.

We are a sociopathy.

Brotherly politeness.

We are a broken society.

In related news, F. T. Rea offers a theory as to a contributor to the brokenness. I’m not sure I agree completely, but I think his piece is worth a read.

Another “responsible gun owner” shoots first, gets questioned later.

Upon investigating the incident, detectives say that several juveniles were playing hide and seek in the area and were hiding on the neighbor’s property.

Detectives spoke to David V. Doyle, the owner of the property. The 58-year-old told authorities that he saw shadows outside his home, went inside and got his firearm.

Detectives say Doyle told them that when he went back outside he saw people running away from his property and began shooting at them, unknowingly (!!!!–ed.) hitting the girl.

We are a society of stupid.

Once again, a “responsible gun owner” proves that said phrase is an oxymoron.

In a post related to this topic, Grung_e_Gene argues most cynically that Republicans have no interest in stemming the flow of blood. One dares to hope that he is, as my old boss used say, in error.

Aside:

Recently, on an episode of the Bob Cesca Show–I can’t remember just which one–Buzz Burbank said that skepticism is good and cynicism, well, not so much. I’m not sure I buy all of Gene’s reasoning, but, sometimes, cynicism does seem to be called for.

And again:

According to officers, a 54-year-old man from Fishers was turkey hunting when he misidentified two other hunters.

Jeffery McClintic, 31 of Indianapolis, and Scott Poynter, 34, of Danville received non-life threatening injuries when the man shot in their direction, officers said.

This may come as a surprise to oxymoronic “responsible gun owners,” but turkeys and humans do not look alike.
