Gutting Out the Vote 0

Thom suggests the election was, indeed, rigged, but not in the way Republicans claim. He argues, rather, that suppressing legitimate votes has been (and still is) a long-term Republican strategy.

In the light of Thom’s arguments, this comes as no surprise.

Lowering the Barr, Witch Hunt Dept. 0

Roanoke attorney and ex-U. S. Attorney John Fishwick, writing at The Roanoke Times, reviews Attorney-General Barr’s recent instructions to the Department of Justice regarding investigating voting irregularities and smells a rat. Here’s a bit; follow the link for the rest.

Barr’s instruction to the country’s U.S. attorneys sadly shows that the Justice Department is not looking into credible, evidence-based, instances of election fraud, but rather looking for something or anything that can be turned into an allegation of election fraud.

A Bananas Republic, One More Time 0

Elvia Dias is concerned. A snippet:

(Secretary of State Mike–ed.) Pompeo on Tuesday predicted “there will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration.”

That kind of defiance is nothing short of an overthrow of the will of the American people and is simply disgusting for Republicans to go along with it.

And, in related news, Georgia’s on my mind.

Originalist Sin, One More Time 0

Judge Barrett testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee: I'm an originalist. The Constitution was written in 1787 and I believe we should preserved the original intent of the authors, so, since I'm not a landowning white man, I should probably go.

Afterthought:

Had the Founders intended the Constitution to be immutable, they’d have not provide for amending it.

Republicans and the China Syndrome 0

E. J. Montini notes that, in campaigning for Martha McSally, Niki Haley attacked Mark Kelly for having done business with a Chinese company.

Montini finds that somewhat–er–problematical. Here’s a bit from his article:

Haley said, “China is absolutely our number one national security threat, whether you ask a Republican or a Democrat. We can’t have a senator holding hands with our biggest national security threat. He should be completely disqualified from running in this race altogether.”

If this is true, Trump should be impeached and removed from office immediately.

I’d guess there has never been an American politician who has EVER had more financial entanglements with China than Donald Trump.

And this is no secret.

How the Trump/GOP Healthcare Plan Works. Step 1: Regular folks pay taxes. Step 2: Rich and powerful don't. Step 3: Obamacare gets trashed so regular folks have no healthcare. Step 4: Rich and power et primo healthcare paid for by regular folks.
