GOP Elephant: We must protect the children . . . from being in the same bathroom as transgender persons . . . but not from school shootings, or poverty, or hunger, or cuts to education, or lack of health care, or global warming . . . .

The Trumpling of America 0

Reg Henry looks for the bright side. Here’s one of his findings, and a quite significant one, at that.

1) Most Republicans don’t believe in much of what they said they believed in: This revelation is very liberating. Hitherto, we all thought that conservative ideology was set in stone — cold, hard and immovable. They supposedly believe in small government yet Mr. Trump says he will build a wall to fence off Mexico, perhaps the biggest public works project since the pyramids. Thank goodness the Mexicans would never think of tunneling under it.

As for family values, now that we have Mr. Trump, we don’t have to concern ourselves with that anymore. What a relief.

Donald Trump proposes to run the United States the same way he ran the Trump Taj.

His campaign staff is trying to un-say it.

There are no clown shoes big enough . . . .

How long before this sort of idiocy becomes the new normal?

A Picture Is Worth: Trickle On Economics 0

Chart showing how Republican policies since 1980 have favored the rich and punished the lover and middle classes.

Via Job’s Anger, which points out that

They (Republicans–ed.) imposed a system that tilted the economic playing field to favor the rich (and the corporations). They told Americans that giving more to the rich would benefit everyone, because much of that extra money going to the rich would trickle down to everyone else in the country. But that didn’t happen. They rich got richer, and everyone else got poorer (thanks to stagnant wages and rising inflation).

Republican Family Values 0

Honest to Pete, you can’t make this stuff up:

House Speaker Beth Harwell banished Rep. Jeremy Durham to a new office building Thursday and limited his access to staff after a scathing Tennessee attorney general report found the Franklin Republican engaged in inappropriate physical contact and potentially poses a “continuing risk to unsuspecting women.”

Dick Polman:

The next time right-wingers rail about transgender people in bathrooms, the next time they voice their desire to “protect our children,” I recommend this two-word retort:

“Republican Family Values” 0

George Washington Plunkett famously said, “There’s honest graft and there’s dishonest graft.”

I challenge you to find any graft in American history more dishonest than the “Republican family values” con.

One Person, One Person 0

A conservative reactionary attempt to create a class of non-persons* for apportionment purposes fails unanimously in the Supreme Court.

Even Clarence Thomas couldn’t stomach this one.
