The Phony “War on Christmas” 0
Michael in Norfolk looks behind the agitprop:
Aside:
As I journey about my neighborhood, it looks to me that, if there is a “war on Christmas,” Christmas is sure as heck winning.
Crocodile Tears 0
The Arizona Republic’s E. J. Montini suggests that Donald Trump’s outrage at Britney Griner’s return home may be less than sincere.
Who woulda thunk?
Courting Disaster 0
Robert Reich discusses the latest danger posed by the Supreme Supremacist Court, the case of Moore v. Harper, and the failure of the media to give it the attention it deserves. I’m not going to do his article the injustice of trying to summarize of recap it.
Just go read it for yourself.
A Picture Is Worth 0
If one standard is good, two must be better.
Originalist Sin 0
At The Sacramento Bee, Josh Gohlke sums up the strategy (emphasis added):

A Freudian Slip-Up 0
They said they didn’t see them.
How the heck could they have missed them? I saw them the first time I saw that political cartoon, for a political cartoon is what it is.
My guess is that, just as when they look at day-to-day life, they don’t see what they don’t want to see.
Furrfu.
The Pyrite Rule 0
Brian Greenspun, publisher of the Las Vegas Sun, is somewhat taken aback that evangelical they-call-themselves-Christians seem to have rewritten the “Golden Rule” so that it reads simply, “Do unto others.”
The Hunt for Hunter 0
David tries to make sense of the right’s obsession with Hunter Biden (Warning: short commercial at the end). An excerpt:
Hyperfocus on irrelevant issues has been the name of the game for this Republican Party for four, six, probably closer to eight or even ten years at this point in time . . . .
Here’s the article that David refers to.
The Voter Fraud Fraudsters 0
As my old professor was fond of saying, “History is irony.” When you see a headline about someone’s being caught intentionally voting illegally, it’s almost always a member of the party that claims that voter fraud is rampant, which it is not.. Methinks ’tis a classic case of psychological projection.
Lapdogs for the Merchants of Hate 0
Jake Tapper forcefully calls out the Republican Party’s lukewarm response–almost a non-response–to the rise in antisemitism on the right.
Afterthought:
As they betray Jake Tapper’s grandfather, who died in World War II, they also betray my father, who fought in World War II, but was fortunate enough to come home to a long and full life.
Today’s Republican Party is a vile and loathsome thing.
