A retired attorney in Virginia Beach is so incensed that Republicans couldn’t repeal the Affordable Care Act that he’s suing to get political donations back, accusing the GOP of fraud and racketeering.

Bob Heghmann, 70, filed a lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court, saying the national and Virginia Republican parties and some GOP leaders raised millions of dollars in campaign funds while knowing they weren’t going to be able to overturn the law also known as Obamacare.

This suit doesn’t have a prayer, of course, as it is completely detached from objective reality.

As are most Trump supporters.

Civic Duty 0

I might have jury duty tomorrow. The way it works here is that, if you receive a summons for jury duty, you call or check the city website the evening before to see whether you must actually report.

I’m not looking forward to it, primarily because I will have to up and at ’em before I’m usually up, as the Court House is way on the other side of town. On the other hand, if I’m called, I’ll take along that book I’ve been meaning to read.

You can, nevertheless, be assured that, whatever else happens, I won’t do this.

Father: Great! Yet another new trashy family reality show! Just when one show has gone stale, they turn over a rock and find a new one. This has been going on for years now! Curtis: There's no shortage of trash families.

Who Woulda Thunk? 0

Some automated lady has been kind enough to leave a message on my machine–several messages, in fact–informing me that my 14-year-old pick-up with 135 thousand miles on it (and still running just fine thank you) is out of warranty.

Whatever shall I do?

How Now, Brown Cow? 0

Vance Lehmkuhl wonders why Americans are so ignorant about cows and milk. Here’s a bit:

It was great fun to learn recently that 7 percent of U.S. adults — more than the population of Pennsylvania! — say they believe chocolate milk comes from brown cows.

It’s one data point in a survey the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy conducted among 1,000 American adults testing folks’ knowledge of agribusiness. But the dairy-backed survey skipped a few other basic questions people might have trouble answering.

My answer is that, thanks primarily to “social” media, ignorance and a willingness to believe anything they see on a computer screen when they wouldn’t believe the same thing in print seems to have become a default setting. Follow the link for his answer.

Oh, please.

The organizers between Salt Lake Comic Con and San Diego ComicCon International (SLCC) are locked in a legal dispute over what events have the right to call themselves a “comic con.”
