Stray Questions 6

Why are the persons who write WordPress plugins so lax about uploading screenshots of what they look like on the front page of your blog?

I really don’t care what it looks like on the backend.

I found a way not to worry about that. I stopped playing with it. I had a plug in I liked at one point. Then I played with the site. Needless to say, the plug in is gone & I’ve stopped that. Before I do damage I can’t fix.

I’m working on a website for a customer.  There are specifications to meet.

    Plus it’s fun.

There’s the difference. You can fix what you break.

    I can copy and paste.

That’s I I built my sidebar:  finding something I liked, then copying and pasting it.  If it didn’t work, I unpasted it.

    Opie helped a lot too.

i can copy & paste well enough to take a link from an email to my web browser. I’ve tried in WordPress. Not worth the worsening of my perpetual headache. I take too much Excedrin as it is, don’t need to add to it.

Rule One:  Make a backup before you change anything.

    Rule Two:  Remember Rule One.

This website does not track you.

It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.

Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.

I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).

I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.
