“An Armed Society Is a Polite Society” 0

Yet another child discovers politeness.

A five-year-old boy has been shot and killed by his 18-month-old cousin who was playing with a loaded gun.

The toddler is believed to have found the gun laying around at his uncle’s house in Detroit, Michigan, before picking it up and firing a single bullet, police have said.

“Let the Science Speak” 0

An excerpt from Dr. Fauci’s remarks:

One of the things that was made clear as recently as about 15 minutes ago when I was with the President is that one of the things we are going to do is to be completely transparent, open, and honest. If things go wrong, not point fingers, but correct them.

The veiled criticisms of the recently departed federal administrator are subtle and striking. The comments at about the 17 minute mark are truly of moment.

This is a must-listen.

Lost in a Lost World 2

Boston.com syndicates a disturbing profile of a QAnon believer and self-styled “digital warrior.”

Afterthought:

I have seen a number of articles and blog posts recently theorizing that many QAnon followers are disillusioned by the failure of their prophet’s predictions to come true. For example and exemplar gratis.

This is not a cause for optimism. They are ripe for the plucking by the next snake oil salesman to come around.

At The Roanoke Times, John Freivalds highlights some disturbing parallels between the recently departed federal administrator and a certain historical figure.

I’m not sure I agree with him, but methinks he makes some points not easily dismissed.

The Pardon Palooza 0

The Tampa Bay Times reports on the recipients of Donald Trump’s passel of pardons. There are no surprises here:

More than 100 individuals received a pardon or commutation of their sentence early Wednesday morning. Though the final list did not include Trump or his family, it included a group of well-connected convicted felons, wealthy fraudsters and two celebrity rappers, as well as dozens of individuals sentenced to long sentences for drug crimes.

At Above the Law, Joe Patrice finds a common thread amongst the pardonees.
