Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.
I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.
Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.

Doesn’t quite know what to say does he? Bad Democrats for being patronizing to the hicks and not doing a better job in the last four years! Bad Republicans for playing the strategy of bigot appeal, except he won’t call it that because it’s nasty to the hicks who are maybe nice to his face when he meets them and doesn’t mention where he stands.
Then there’s this: “The black population of Sioux City is 2.9%. In Woodbury County, in which Sioux City sits, 13% of the people are on food stamps, an increase of 26% since 2007, with nine times as many whites as blacks using them.”
Bad example, much better abound. Man can’t think right with numbers. Population of South Dakota — 1/20th of LA County. State does not count, voter wise, and is not representative of anything except as an example of a small number of always GOP-voting hicks in the hinterland who contribute virtually nothing to the GNP. Better and larger example, simpler to grasp and with more impact — enough people are on food stamps to fill the populations of 21 states, counting from the bottom up, and the majority of those on the program are white working poor. And the whites often vote Republican, often because all they do is watch Fox News, a channel that lies to them 24 hours a day about matters discussed in his column. And a lot of them came onto the rolls as victims of the broken economy which Democrats and Republicans are responsible for, but — by far — most Republicans.
And, yes, a lot of these people are racist although they don’t think of themselves as such, even loudly deny it. I grew up with them and that was in country Pennsylvania, in the hinterland, not the south.

Kinda related — Scott Walker could keep his governorship in Wisconsin next week during the recall where, by all accounts, he should be toast. The Dems had enthusiasm, publicity and all the right populist arguments and have almost blown it by picking a party hack to run against Walker, and then — nationally — neglect to fund their own side. In this case it would seem not to be people just voting against their interests but rather the team on one side being incompetent after building a big lead in the first half. Remember when Wisconsin was all over the news? Now they have a guy running nobody outside the state can name except political junkies.

On comment one: Yeah, he kind of meanders, does he not? He almost falls into “on the one hand, on the other hand.” Nevertheless, an interesting read, and that’s what I latched on to.
On comment two: Bad Democrats. Bad. Deplorable. Even disgusting.
And Walker, if he survives, will claim survival=mandate.

Yeah, of course. And then the Badgers will really be sorry.
