“Logical Consequences” 0

When the kids were little, Ex and I attended S.T.E.P. training classes. They were, as a matter of fact, quite useful and down to earth.

It seems that Philadelphia has attended also, and implemented “logical consequences” for drivers on a particularly abused stretch of road.

In an attempt to slow everybody down, the city has installed sensors in the roadway that determine the speed of vehicles approaching Fountain Green, about a half-mile north of the Girard Avenue Bridge.

If a vehicle passes the sensor going above the speed limit, the light at Fountain Green turns red.

Scam Alert 0

Telephone scam du jour:

Scammers are telling people that they owe the IRS money, which must be paid promptly by a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer, IRS officials said in a release.

If victims refuse to send money, callers will threaten them with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license.

The USS Forrestal, considered the first of the Navy’s supercarriers and currently docked in Philadelphia, has been sold for 1 cent to a Texas company that specializes in scrap metal.

I remember seeing her traversing the Chesapeake when I was a young ‘un.

There’s a picture of her at the link.
