(snip)

Be polite to your friends.

Police say three men returned to the home after drinking at bars in downtown Rochester. The homeowner took out an AR-15 rifle to show it to his friends, believing the magazine contained only blank rounds. However, there was one live round, and when he pulled the trigger, it struck his friend.

Guns and stupid, guns and stupid,
They go together like love and Cupid.
    Let me tell you, brother,
You can’t have one without the other.

Politeness is essential in the working environment.

Randy Stair has been identified as the supermarket employee who killed three coworkers, before turning the gun on himself at a Weis grocery store in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.

Stair, 24, posted an ominous tweet just hours before the incident which read,“Goodbye humans… I’ll miss you…,” before he packed a duffle bag with two pistol-grip shotguns and headed to Weis late Wednesday night.

During Stair’s rampage, 59 bullets were shot, and three coworkers were killed. Authorities identified the victims as Victoria Brong, 26, Brian Hayes, 47 and Terry Sterling, 63.

If at first you aren’t polite, try, try again.

Police say 29-year-old Teudy Asencio was shot in the foot Monday while a family friend was showing him a handgun at a home in Cranston.

Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist says the friend didn’t realize the gun was loaded when it went off and fired a bullet into a wall. In a panic, the man pulled out the magazine and pulled the trigger again, this time with the bullet striking Asencio.

Jesus.

Get a leg up on politeness.

One person is recovering tonight after accidentally shooting themselves in the leg.

I shall refrain from commenting on the horrifyingly incorrect grammar in that sentence. I shall not point out that “him” and “them” do not agree, unless “him” is a multi-bodied swamp monster.

(Oh, my. I notice that, to my shock and horror, I failed to refrain. Where are my pearls, that I may clutch them? Where oh where is my fainting couch that I may fall upon it?)

Share the politeness.

News outlets report that the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that Shawn Perkins was a passenger in a car with the two teenage girls on Monday. Authorities say Perkins allowed the 15-year-old girl, who was sitting in the back, to handle his handgun. The weapon discharged, hitting the 16-year-old driver in the back.

What’s most striking about this is that charges have been filed.

One wonders what keeps this from being yet another “tragic accident” in which a “gun discharges” all on its ownsome. Inquiring minds want to know.
