Politeness casts a bigfootprint.

The Rogers County, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Department arrested three men after one of them was accidentally shot. Authorities are still searching for the gun used in the shooting.

According to Sheriff Scott Walton, the three men were hunting Bigfoot late Saturday night, when one of them was spooked by what he thought might be the legendary beast and fired his weapon, hitting his friend in the back.

“When you start off with an explanation like that, do you believe anything after that?” Sheriff Walton said.

We live in a society of stupid.

Forget the Dramamine.

Pack heat. It is the in thing.

But some passengers are positively bristling with weapons. TSA officers noticed that one passenger who took off his jacket to go through screening in Sacramento, Calif., last year was wearing a shoulder holster. In the holster was a loaded 9 mm pistol. The same passenger was also found to have three more loaded pistols, 192 rounds of ammunition, two magazines and three knives.

Just this week, TSA discovered 29 guns, 27 of which were loaded and nine had rounds chambered ready to be fired, according to information posted on the agency’s website. Screeners have found pistols hidden in tape decks, inside boots, in the lining of carry-on bags and even one that was disguised to look like a writing pen.

I’m not a big fan of the TSA as a concept or as an organization–there’s too much meaninglessly intrusive security theatre–but this makes me more sympathetic to it in theory and reality.

Two eggs over medium, country ham, and a side of politeness . . . .

An employee at the Waffle House on Lawrenceville Highway at Interstate 285 told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore he heard two cars collide by the sign outside and then several gunshots.

Antonio McDaniel, a cook at the Waffle House, told investigators he was working the grill when he heard the commotion and dialed 911.

“It was a black car parked sideways and the white van was just ramming it. Guy jumps out of the black car and started letting off rounds,” McDaniel said.

Politeness begins at home.

The 14-year-old boy who accidentally shot his 13-year-old cousin Tuesday afternoon has been questioned and released, authorities said Wednesday morning.

Jonathan was reportedly cleaning a gun in the bathroom when he accidentally fired it into a wall. The bullet passed into Danajha’s bedroom and hit her in the chest.

Settle relationship issues politely.

Remonstrate politely with the neighbors.

Police say loud barking might have led a 56-year-old man to kill four of his neighbors and two dogs before turning the weapon on himself over the weekend at a central Phoenix town house.

Pretending to the badge of politeness:

Philadelphia police say a city man who works as a clerk in the sheriff’s office falsely claimed to be a police officer then a deputy when he pulled a gun at an auto repair shop.

Show fellow drivers how polite you can be.

The incident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday on southbound I-680. Both drivers exited at Mission Boulevard and turned right onto Brown Road, and one driver fired a gun at the other car, hitting the driver, according to police.

The shooter then fled and has not been located by police.

“How many more?” indeed.

I got my answer sooner than I expected. Another gun for safety’s sake:

Orange County (Texas–ed.) Chief Deputy Sheriff Clint Hodgkinson said Tuesday that 19-year-old Melissa Ringhardt was babysitting a 5-year-old and 6-month-old in a home in Vidor, about 90 miles east of Houston. Authorities say Ringhardt brought a handgun with her because she was scared of being home alone.

Ringhardt left the handgun on a table and went into another room to take a nap. When she awoke, she found the 5-year-old boy lying in the living room with a gunshot wound.

The child is dead and sitter is in jail.

And in news for the polite, it’s not a good idea to leave your politeness stick in an unlocked garage.

Simulated politeness has a price.

Sonoma County sheriff’s officials and family members say deputies shot and killed a 13-year-old boy who was carrying a replica assault weapon.

How many more?

Politeness is essential on the school bus.

Authorities arrested a 13-year-old boy they say showed off a gun at a school bus stop earlier this week.

Today has been a blood-red letter day for politeness.

A gunfight this afternoon between a jitney driver and one of his passengers on a residential street in the Hill District left the passenger in critical condition this evening, police said.

More guns will, no doubt, prevent this from happening again.

More news of the polite:

A student apparently opened fire at a Nevada middle school Monday, killing a teacher and wounding two boys, authorities said. The shooter was left dead.

A hospital said that the two boys arrived in critical condition. One was later upgraded to fair.

Had everyone been packing, no doubt nothing would have happened.

Keep politeness in the family.

A fight between two cousins in a moving vehicle Saturday ended in a shooting, York County authorities say.

A 2-year-old girl died Saturday afternoon after she found a loaded handgun and accidentally shot herself, Fayetteville police said.

The NRA will no doubt claim that, had she been armed, this would not have happened, because that’s just how they roll.

The parents of an Ingleside Elementary student were charged Wednesday with child neglect after the boy brought a handgun to school, police said.

How could this be child neglect?

It’s but early exposure to politeness!

An 8-year-old boy was recovering in the hospital after being accidentally shot inside a Chester home Thursday afternoon, the city’s police commissioner said.

At Tampabay dot com, Dan DeWitt tells two tales of politeness, while questioning this statement from law enforcement:

There is “NO suspect at large and NO threat to the community,” it said in a statement.

That’s because there were NO survivors.
