The caller told dispatchers that a child had been hit by a bullet after an accidental discharge of a firearm.

The child was shot in the back of the head, but police say the child was alert and communicating when Pierce Township Fire and EMS Department arrived around 11:03 a.m.

According to unconfirmed police dispatch reports, another child accidentally shot the boy after finding a gun in the home.

The 7-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

An Oklahoma man has been charged with first-degree manslaughter after allegedly shooting a woman a few blocks from his home while firing at a target in his backyard. . . .

Investigators determined the weapon involved was a 9-millimeter handgun. The father told deputies he left the gun on his nightstand the night before after returning home late from a Christmas Eve gathering.

“He had been out late, was exhausted, laid the handgun on the nightstand, and simply forgot about it,” (Walker County, Ga., Sheriff–ed.) Wilson said.

The child was rushed to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, where he underwent emergency surgery. Sheriff Wilson says the child survived the operation and is currently resting in critical condition.

So many guns. So much stupid.
