The hunt for politeness continues.

A Hardin High School senior, Zeak Dryden, 18, was critically injured on Sunday when he accidentally shot himself in the shoulder while out duck hunting with friends in the Livingston area.

His mother, Shonda, said Zeak was riding on an ATV when he reached into the back of the vehicle to grab his firearm. The trigger mechanism for the shotgun snagged on something and discharged, striking Zeak in his right shoulder.

A polite society is a clean society.

The teen, whose name is not being released by the Star-Banner because of his age, told Detective Ian Simpson in an interview that he was given a gun to clean. He said he took the gun and went to his residence, which is nearby, and wiped the firearm.

He said he and his girlfriend, identified as Kelsey Lynn Smith,17, were in a room and she was on the bed. The teen said he was walking around the room playing with the gun, spinning it around his finger.

While playing with the weapon, he said, it accidentally went off.

“Accidentally” is not a synonym of “negligently.”

Celebrate special occasions politely.

“We said, ‘Oh it’s midnight, happy New Year’s,’ and then immediately she puts her hand to her head and there’s blood dripping down and she says I got shot,” said Shay Orozco, who was hosting the gathering.

The woman had suffered a gunshot wound to the head after a bullet fell from the sky. When Orozco realized what had happened she called 911.

Party politely.

Washoe County deputies responded to call around 1 a.m. Sunday about a teen who was shot in the thigh at a party about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Reno. The girl was not identified.

The Washoe County sheriff’s office said it is believed somebody at the party fired a weapon into the dark not knowing she was there. The teen is expected to recover from her injuries.

TPD (Thomasville, Ga., Police Department) found a minor with a gunshot wound to the left arm, according to the media report.

24-year old Jarquese Harris stated that his friend had left an AR-15 rifle in the house and that his friend’s grandmother did not want it to leave the house.

Harris attempted to take the rifle outside and accidentally pulled the trigger, not knowing that the safety was off or that the gun was loaded, the media report says.

And a polite society is a clean society.

“It was a freak accident. It was supposed to be an unloaded gun and my husband was just doing maintenance cleaning on it like he normally does. There wasn’t supposed to be any rounds in it or anything like that,” she said.

The gun somehow went off and a bullet hit Jack (the eight-year old son–ed.). Canton Township Police say he was rushed to the hospital, but doctors could not save him.
