Politeness is a family value.

A teen girl was shot early Sunday when authorities said she entered her home and was mistaken as an intruder.

Sometime shortly after 2 a.m., her parents heard the garage door open and thought someone was breaking into the home. The girl’s stepfather retrieved his gun and went to investigate.

When the two encountered each other, the girl was accidentally shot in the abdomen, said Sgt. Joni Money.

One more time, “accidentally” is not a synonym for “negligently.”

Yet another responsible gun owner discharges his responsibility, this time ending the life of an eight-year-old boy.

Authorities said the gun was registered to the shooter and is usually kept in a safe. But it was fired when he was unloading it an upstairs bedroom. It then went into a bed, through the floor and ceiling of the bathroom below where it struck the victim.

The man was taken to police headquarters and is cooperating, but officials said all witness statements confirmed that the shooting was an accident.

One must needs wonder how many more lives will be sacrificed as gun nuts play with their portable penises.

It behooves courteous couples to settle domestic disagreements in a polite manner.

The hunt for politeness continues.

Be polite when you go shopping.

Ensure that birthday celebrations have occasion for politeness.

One more time, “responsible gun owner” is an oxymoron.

And a polite society is a clean society.

Afterthought:

It continually amazes me how many of these “responsible gun owners” have no idea of how to treat guns.

The first rule of cleaning a gun is to make sure the damned thing is not loaded for Pete’s sake.

At 10:45 a.m., a child fired a single shot near the checkout area of the store from a 9mm handgun that was inside the mother’s purse. The woman did have a conceal carry permit.

According to the report, the woman told police her child found the firearm in a concealed compartment of her purse, deactivated the gun safety and fired the pistol when she turned towards her husband and away from the shopping cart.

Be polite to your favorite female.

Demonstrate politeness to our canine companions.

Politeness takes practice.

Back in the olden days, when I was a young ‘un, we would prop up cans on an old log in the back yard facing the wood that stretched between Pine View Farm and the salt marsh and practice shooting them. But we wouldn’t do any target practice during hunting season, because we knew that there might be hunters in the woods and that even .22 bullets can carry for a mile.

That was before “responsible gun owner” became an oxymoron.

Be polite when you are with friends.

Yet another “responsible gun owner” (sic) discharges his responsibility.
