The Crash the Economy Dummies 0

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gene Collier has some questions about today’s Republican Party:

Would they (MAGA Republicans–ed.) trash the U.S. economy and destabilize world markets just to pin it on Biden? Would they gift-wrap a political weapon for Russia, China and every other hostile global player that preaches American instability?

Follow the link for his answer. (Hint: He is less than sanguine.)

Aside:

Today’s Republican Party is a vile and loathsome thing willing to sacrifice the honor and integrity of the nation on the altar of faction.

Decoding de Code 0

The Detroit Free Press’s Keith A. Owens decodes de code of de day: “anti-woke.” The short version: it’s a war against history and fact. Here’s a bit from his article:

. . . the attempt to protect the people from the threat of fact-based intelligence isn’t just going on in Florida, it’s a Hail Mary arcing across the entire country promoting the desperate MAGA belief that if they can just turn out the lights in America’s classrooms fast enough, maybe the kids won’t realize they’re sitting in a dark room. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll stop being woke and become convinced it was always that way.

The entire piece is worth your while.

Republican Family Values 0

Roy S. Johnson marvels at the petty cruelty directed towards young trans “influencer” Dylan Mulvaney by the party of mean for the sake of mean. A snippet:

This week, the bigots aimed their lip gloss at Maybelline, the makeup giant. Someone dug deep enough into Mulvaney’s social media to find a reel of her using the company’s products for a makeover.

I mean, really. Bigots must be out there livin’ large if they have time for this.

American Establishmentarians 0

A Navy veteran speaks out against what he refers to as Florida Governor DeSantis’s “religious fascism.”

As I mentioned earlier, today’s Republican Party seems not to care much about the United States Constitution, particularly the bit about “make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

This New Gilded Age 0

Michael in Norfolk sums up the strategy. A snippet (emphasis added):

For decades the Republican Party has pushed a reverse Robin Hood agenda that pandered to the financial interests of the super wealthy while using appeals to hatred and intolerance – racial hatred, religious extremism, and homophobia in particular, to prompt enough working class and middle class voters to vote against their own financial and economic best interests.
