Cliffhanger 0

Aside:
As I read somewhere today (I’ve forgotten where and this is a paraphrase), it says something that Republicans seem surprised that folks don’t want access to health care taken away from them so that insurance company executives and Wall Street banksters can have more and better tax cuts and country club memberships.

What Nemski Said 0
This is the first edition of What Nemski Said (also, the comments).
Bombs for Google Bombs 0
This is a gross over-reaction to making a little-visited website unavailable for a few hours.
The planning was given added urgency by a cyber-attack last month on the defence contractor, Lockheed Martin.
It is silly and stupid and betrays fundamental ignorance of networking on a conceptual (as opposed to a technical) level, a lust for perpetual war, or a basis for endless consulting contracts.
I’m betting on one or both of the last two choices.
I Think They’re All Bozos on This Bus 0
In which Palin drones:

The Rude One comments. A snippet (the rest is NSFW):
It’ll be like Motley Crue back in the day, except with more oxygen tanks . . . .
(With apologies to the Firesign Theatre.)
Final Memorials 0
Some uncomfortable thoughts on being inured to war and the death it brings, from Balloon Juice.
News Nugget 0
I remember once reading that you know that world events are getting dicy when newspapers replace the pictures on their front pages with maps.
Atrios has another nugget to understanding the news:
WWJD 0
It is curious how persons who call themselves “Christian” so frequently use the name of Jesus to justify social cruelties.
Savitri Hensman, writing at the Guardian, considers the Tory “austerity” moves in the UK and Tory attempts to cloak them behind the robes of Jesus, then asks, in all seriousness, “What Would Jesus Cut”?
Her answer is quite instructive.
Scary Movie 1.5 Litre: Return of the Quitter 0
Much fun is being had at the prospects of the new docu-adulation-mentary about Sarah Palin.
I don’t have anything to say about it, for it mocks itself. John Cole, though, has compiled a list of suggested titles from the commenters at Balloon Juice.
Follow the link to Balloon Juice. You will be glad you did.
Cantor’s Cant 0
Andy Borowitz gives Eric Cantor (R–Embarrassing Virginia) the raspberry. A nugget:
Within hours of the declaration, FEMA officials were dispatched to assess the damage to Mr. Cantor’s status as a human being capable of empathy.
Afterthought:
The Republican Party slogan pretty much appears to be, “I’ve got mine.”
