“Convenient Mitt” (Updated) 0

One who believes in nothing will say anything.

From the New York Times:

There isn’t really a Moderate Mitt; what is on display now is better described as Convenient Mitt. Anyone willing to advocate extremism to raise money and win primaries is likely to do the same to stay in office.

There’s no there, there.

Just a used car salesman determined to make a sale. If it means putting sawdust in the transmission and oatmeal in the radiator, well, then the trees and the oats better run.

Night of the Living Morans 0

Get a Brain, MoransGiven that the Republican party has adopted bigotry as a strategy, this is no surprise.

Someone vandalized an Obama campaign building in Des Moines by spray painting the words “Muslim Lier” on a large banner, police said.

The word “liar” was misspelled on the sign, officers said.

Republican Jesus 0

Shamelessly stolen from kavips:

Matthew 6:6: And Jesus said unto his disciples, “Jam God’s will down people’s throats. Pray openly and loudly and judge all those who do not pray openly and loudly as non believers.”

John 3:20: Jesus looked upon the crowd and proclaimed, “Oral contraceptives are murder. If a woman is truly raped, her body will shut that down. Rape the children but remember to ask God for forgiveness, because only then will you enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Mark 12:17 Then Jesus said unto them, “Overthrow Caesar. Refuse to pay your taxes or proclaim them wrong. Run for office and take over your nation’s rulers and replace man’s law with God’s law. It is God’s will that you lie and cheat to achieve these goals.

Decoding de Code 0

Farnsworth explains the meaning of “states’ rights.” A nugget:

States Rights was regularly trotted out over the 20thCentury whenever those black people wanted to go to integrated schools, wanted to get paid a decent wage at a job with safe working conditions, wanted to walk down the street without fear, wanted to vote. The good ole boys in the South would get outraged and scream that supporting and encouraging those actions violated their sacrosanct concept of States Rights.

This speaking in code is called “Dog Whistle Politics”, and the Republicans have elevated it an art form.

The next time someone says, “because states’ rights” to you, ask him, the state’s right to do just exactly what to whom?

They Just Can’t Help Themselves 0

It’s part of what they have become.

ABL reports:

A Virginia GOP affiliate thought it would be hilarious to post photos of President Obama as a witch doctor, a caveman, and a thug on the official Mecklenburg County GOP Facebook page. When Virginia Republican Party officials asked the chairman of the committee, a dude named Wallace “Wally” Hudson, to remove the images, Wally laughed and refused.

Why?

Because racism is always hilarious, and if you don’t think so, you should shut up and quit being so goddamn sensitive, that’s why.

Support the Troops, Republican Style 0

It’s a three-part plan.

      1. Send them to war.
      2. Bring (at least most) of them home.
      3. Throw them away.

Rick Scott Auditions for the 47% 0

Republicans: Agin’ that evul fedrul guvmint money until except when they ain’t.

Florida governor Rick “Lex Luthor” Scott (R–Medicare Fraud) is miffed that he can’t stick his hand into the fedrul cash drawer.

Scott (R–Medicare fraud) originally wrote to Obama and (FEMA Director Craig–ed.) Fugate to request aid about two weeks after Isaac — which became a hurricane days after sideswiping Florida — caused flooding in Palm Beach County and the Panhandle. Fugate, who served as director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management from 2001-09, this week let Scott know his request had been denied.

Fugate’s letter stated that the damage was not severe enough to require federal aid, and basically argued that Florida could handle the costs on its own.

The rejection is the latest dust-up in a tenuous relationship between Scott and the federal government.

Shortly after coming into office, Scott rejected more than $2 billion in federal funds aimed at building a high-speed rail line. Obama criticized Scott for the snub, saying he thought it was “wrong.”

“What Better Man than Me To Take Away Medicare . . .” 0

I guess because giving tax breaks to rich folks so they can buy car elevators is more important than giving old folks the heath care benefits for which they have paid their Medicare taxes throughout their working lives.

And Tommy Thompson is reputed to be a “moderate” Republican. “Moderate” Republican has become an oxymoron.
