A Whiter Shade of Vile 2

Because Republican Jesus is all about hatin’ on folks.

Businesses in Washington would get the right to refuse services to gay and lesbian customers if “providing those goods or services” conflicts with the religious or philosophical beliefs of the business owner, under a bill introduced Thursday in the state Senate.

The bill, sponsored by 12 of the Senate’s 23 Republicans, is in response to an anti-discrimination suit filed by Attorney General Bob Ferguson against a floral shop in Richland whose owner refused to provide flowers for the wedding of a longtime customer who is gay. She cited belief in Jesus Christ as grounds for refusal.

The legislation, Senate Bill 5927, is worded broadly, going beyond a religious objection in allowing discrimination against gays and lesbians.

The GOP keeps assiduously trying to pass these unconstitutional laws aimed at enabling attack on the tribes they don’t care for. They’re exactly like the fascists parties arising in the underbelly countries of Europe, examples being Hungary and Greece. With the constant attempts at federal nullification laws they’re basically trying to get out of bein part of any idealistic or egalitarian civil society. You magnify that behavior nationwide and consider this country isn’t some place the size of Monaco or Malta and it’s a very big deal. It’s just unilateral decision-making that certain people are totally unacceptable to them. How do you convince the country, at least that part of it that can be reached, the need for social shunning of such a group?

I wish I had an answer.  As you pointed out in one of your Ted Nugent posts, hate sells.

The Republican Party has become a vile and disgusting thing, a reincarnation of Bull Connor in three-piece suits, the Klan in pastel sheets.

It is long past time for the media gatekeepers to recognize this and report it accordingly.

Regrettably, not in our lifetimes.  Not going to happen.

I am not optimistic about the American experiment.  Its original sin is demanding repayment.
