Cites Eli Pariser, the boss of UpWorthy. We recall UpWorthy as a dispenser of trash news, curated by people paid poorly to express two things — joy and cloying earnestness. Packaged as one or two pragraph pieces of clickbait wrapped up as a daily dose of Chocks vitamins and PopTarts for your soul.

An ad hominem argument does not invalidate the larger point.

As my old boss used to say, even a blind pig finds an acorn sometimes.

Stopped watch, yep. Ad hominem, guilty as charged. I was a reviewer for years at a newspaper. It made people open the paper on Saturday. There’s still a special place in old school journalism Hell for Eli Pariser and UpWorthy.

Upworthy somehow escaped my notice, likely because it didn’t live up to its name.

Remember, that blind pig with his acorn is still a blind pig.
