The Rule of Lawless, War and Mongers of War Dept. 0

Retired naval officer Jon Duffy cuts through Donald Trump’s fog of lies about how his war of choice on Iran violates American law. A snippet:

Trump is treating congressional weakness as presidential permission. Because other presidents have stretched their war powers and Congress has too often failed to stop them, he now treats lawful congressional action as an illegitimate constraint. But a failure to exercise power does not automatically surrender that power to another branch of government. It shows how badly the legislative branch has been weakened.

I would quibble a bit. I would argue that its not that the legislative branch of the government is weakened; it’s that the members of one political party have chosen, as the Founders would have said, faction over country.

But that’s just me.

I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
