A Brace of Bubbas 0

The trial of Bubba the Love Sponge gets even more bizarre.

Words fail me.

Afterthought:

A better title might have been, “Suck on This.”

Apparently, he thought this was funny. Others were not amused.

A high school student is facing an identity theft charge for allegedly opening a Twitter account in the name of the director of a Tennessee county’s public school system, cops report.

Only in It for the Money 0

This is stupid. And predatory.

Two New Jersey men sued Subway this week, claiming the world’s biggest fast-food chain has been shorting them by selling so-called footlong sandwiches that measure a bit less than 12 inches.

The suit, filed Tuesday in Superior Court in Mount Holly, may be the first legal filing aimed at the sandwich shops after an embarrassment went viral last week when someone posted a photo of a footlong and a ruler on the company’s Facebook page to show that the sandwich was not as long as advertised.

It’s like suing Hertz because they don’t levitate you into the driver’s seat.

In other news of the predatory, but not Facebook-related and not quite as stupid, there’s this. . . . .

How can you sue for defamation of character when, by all indications, you don’t have any?

These are the folks who couldn’t make the cut for Fox.

Parking Wars 0

A girl was standing in a parking space to hold it for a friend (in my view, a violation of the rules of parking war).

Someone else wanted it. Assault ensued.

In the report Cornett claimed she told the teen to move and as she pulled into the space, the teen “leaned against her vehicle and started to yell, ‘She hit me.’” In the report, Cornett’s daughter corroborated her mother’s story, according to Channel 2.

But when deputies examined the Walmart security camera video, they told Channel 2 it showed “the SUV stops as (the teen) stands in the parking space and suddenly accelerates. (The teen) is struck by the vehicle, and she is physically moved by the force of the vehicle.”

A price of not waking an extra hundred yards: a trip to the pokey.

(The girl was not seriously hurt.)

From El Reg:

A top divorce lawyer has warned that adulterous couples are increasingly getting caught out over text messages and other electronic communication sent during the Christmas period.

“It is really very sad,” Ayesha Vardag, dubbed Britain’s top divorce lawyer by the Law Society, told The Telegraph.

“We find a lot is that there are a lot of text message ‘bustings’ on Christmas Day, usually because the husband leaves the phone around and the mistress is sending messages. It is amazing how many times that is what catches people out.”

They aren’t.

They are just being humorless. And ponderously pretentiously pedantically pedestrian.

Talk about wasting the taxpayers’ money.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control announced this week that Virginia Tech has received a grant to help curb binge and underage drinking on its campus.

According to a news release from the ABC, Tech will receive $8,900 from the state’s “Operation Undergrad” grant program to boost the campus police bicycle patrol and social media outreach program “Hokies for Party Positive.”

Substitute almost any college in the story, the effort would still be futile.

Some things never change.

A sense of timing:

A California man was arrested and nine guns, including rifles and a shotgun, were seized after threats were posted on Facebook against Los Angeles elementary schools, police said Monday.

Kyle Bangayan, 24, of Pomona was booked into the downtown jail Sunday for investigation of making criminal threats, police Cmdr. Andrew Smith said. He remained in jail with bail set at $500,000.

Facebook Frolics 1

Steve Welch, losing Pennsylvania Republican candidate, tries to blame Facebook for the Republican Party’s poor fortunes.

You really must read the whole exercise in denying the reality of Republican whackjobbery.

A nugget:

The result is that Facebook is pushing the Republican Party into no man’s land and convincing single-issue extremists in the party that it is a good idea in the process. The loud minority on Facebook drown out, and even worse, attack dissenting views. It turns out teenage girls are not the only people who use Facebook to bully individuals.

In other Republican news, levees cause floods, junk yards cause car crashes, and bad smells cause manure.

The Florida Republican Party Party 0

Stay classy, guys.

(Florida–ed.) House Speaker Will Weatherford has apologized for the behavior of some lawmakers at a retreat last month when several Republican members who had been drinking became unruly at a Disney World hotel.

Weatherford said he’s still trying to learn what happened, but was concerned enough about reports of rowdiness that he apologized to members the next day and warned he could not condone “unruly behavior.”

Details at the link. Seems they just had to have themselves some see-gars.
