You can’t make this stuff up.

Probation for posting.

I’ve been on a few trail rides. Most were on Quarter Horses and one was on a Tennessee Walking Horse. The most spectacular one was in Bryce Canyon National Park; we were on the plateau north of the canyon itself and could see the Yellowstone highlands off to the south.

I considered my trail rides successes, as I did not fall off the horses, not even once.

Never, though, did the wrangler need for me to saddle up on a Clydesdale.

Culpepper was arrested because she had the same first name as another woman wanted by authorities in an aggravated assault case, even though Culpepper provided officers with her driver’s license that showed she did not have the same name and was not the same age as the real suspect. She also did not have a gold tooth that police were told the real suspect had.

She called to report that her truck had been stolen and spent fifty-three days in jail awaiting trial; her suit was dismissed because the police have immunity.

No brains, just immunity.

Afterthought:

I cannot keep myself from thinking that the cops just rounded up the first black lady named “Teresa” that they saw.

After all, this happened in Georgia, where they all look alike.

Andrew Smith sure wants to know. Early Monday morning, just past 1, he heard a loud racket outside his apartment in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights, and thought nothing of it. But when a neighbor knocked on his door and told him, you-gotta-see-this: His wife’s 2009 Smart Car — all 1,808 pounds of it — was sitting on its roof.

San Francisco was abuzz over the trail of teeny-tiny two-seaters that turned up turned on their sides — and a fourth propped up on its rear end — in two sections of the city.

Speaking of mean for the sake of mean . . .

Chad was ordered by a Juvenile Court judge to wear an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet as part of his sentence for a December arrest. Lynn, whose child-endangerment conviction was overturned on appeal last month, also was ordered to wear an ankle bracelet as a term of his release from prison.

But the Archdiocese’s responses to both court orders have been as different as night and day.

Lynn, 63, was literally taken in by the church, which paid his bail and is allowing him to live at St. William Parish in the Northeast while the District Attorney’s Office appeals to get his conviction reinstated.

Meanwhile, Chad, 16, was kicked out of West Catholic on Jan. 13 and told not to return until the ankle monitor is removed, according to him, his parents, Fred and Tiffani Baker, and his attorney.

Of course, one is a black kid accused of a minor crime and the other is a Prince of the Church accused of covering up child molesters.

Who more deserves Christian mercy is quite clear.

The snake-handling Campbell County (Tennessee–ed.) preacher whom a grand jury recently decided not to indict on charges of illegal possession of wildlife will not be getting his disease-ridden snakes back, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Agents quickly stripped searched her and did cavity searches but found no evidence of drugs, court documents said. But the woman was transported in handcuffs to the University Medical Center of El Paso, the lawsuit said, where doctors subjected her to an observed bowel movement, a CT scan and other exams without a warrant.

Nothing was found. Then the hospital billed her $5,000.

I hope she wins her suit.

Any fool can call himself a “Christian.”

Many fools do, even as they know not of what they speak.

It’s late. I’m tired. I’m old, and my outrage meter red-lined more years ago than I care to remember.

As my two or three regular readers know, I was raised Christian, Southern Baptist before Texans took over* and turned the Southern Baptist Convention into something I do not recognize.

This is no Christianity that I know.

I shall shut up now. I do not trust myself to still my rage.
