Sweet or Sour, Whole or Sliced? 0

Therese Winnington and her dog Pickle trudged home after a walk for Pickle and a trip to get some coffee . . . .

That is a great name for a dog.

When my ex and Second Son, who was about five at the time, brought home Beau*, our Lab who was part of the family for a long, long time, there was a discussion about whether or not to change his name.

(Beau was a previously owned used dog.)

Second Son decided that “Fido” would be a good name. This led to a long discussion between the two of them about how Beau was used to his name and probably wouldn’t respond well to a new one . . . .

A short video about the snow here, with a little commercial at the beginning:

*Actually, he was a black Lab with a heart as big as the Pacific Ocean and a brain as big as a button, except when stealing cheeseburgers.

As far as the previous owners were concerned, his name was “Bo,” for “Mr. Bojangles.” Ex and I both thought that was racist beyond disgust.

We didn’t change the name, but did change the spelling.

Words matter.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
