Apparently, Texas A & M has trademarked a common phrase.
This definitely puts the “amateur” in semi-pro college football.
This is like Apple’s trying to trademark the letter “i,” but succeeding.

That is really far fetched. The term “12th man” in football and “6th man” in basketball have been used generically for years – long before Texas A&M filed the legal papers. But I guess the only thing that matters is who files the papers first.
Maybe I’ll trademark, When you get to the end zone, act like you’re supposed to be there. and When you get to the end zone, act like you’ve been there before. Well, maybe not – it would be useless. No one says that anymore…
