In the latest migration to a new virtual private server, some of the links to images in the earliest posts to this blog were broken. If you encounter one of these broken links, please let me know. I have backups and can restore the images.
There’s only one person who agrees with me on everything, and, as I’m not running for office, that person is not on the ballot.
Is Facebook the lonely cloud?
This website does not track you.
It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.
Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.
I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.
Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.

Interesting. In the past year Facebook has wildly changed the way its feed works for people. Early in the year, every bit of crap “friends” posted wound up in your feed with the result that the most prolific posters drowned out contributions from ‘friends’ who were less obsessed. To uncover what was going on you had to either unfriend the nuisances or de-rate them manually. Now, it’s the opposite. Facebook has stovepiped most of its users. Generally speaking, most of your ‘friends’ won’t ever see what you post unless they make an effort or you bribe FB to ‘promote’ or ‘sponsor’ what you post. And just before question they tried sneaking stealthy ads into the feed. People reacted badly and I haven’t seen them again, yet. Since Facebook search doesn’t work for anything interesting and it’s typically lousy as a micro-blogging or webpage-for-idiots platform, it’s mostly about being grasping.

The only thing certain about Facebook is that its users are thoroughly zucked.

Basically. The plan, I bet, is to leverage loneliness and isolation through the feed algorithm.
